See how GPT Astra turns brand and product links into ecommerce email designs in 5–7 minutes, then follow the workflow to import them into Figma for editing.
Creating Marketing Emails with GPT Astra
Believe it or not, these emails only took 5 minutes to create using ChatGPT’s newest model, GPT Astra 6. As you can see, the results I’ve gotten from this thing so far have been completely insane.
Today, I’m going to walk you through exactly how you can do this with your brand or any brand, from giving Astra your website and product links to bringing the finished design into Figma so you can edit it yourself.
I run an email marketing agency, so I can understand how hard it is to design things sometimes, especially when it comes to the copy, the imagery, the layout. All of it needs to feel like it links to your brand. For the longest time, that’s the reason why I’ve been a little hesitant to use AI in some of our core design processes.
What I wanted to find out when I started using Astra was: how much of that load can Astra actually handle? Can it take an actual brand, understand the look and feel of it, and turn that into a complete email design in minutes?
Well, spoiler alert: it absolutely can. I’m going to show you exactly what prompt to use and then how you can get that design into Figma so you can make all the edits and adjustments yourself.
The prompt is going to be linked in the description below so you can use it with your own brand or whatever other brand you want to use it for. Let’s get into it.
Filling Out the Prompt
We’re going to start in ChatGPT. I already created the prompt, so all you have to do is copy it and paste it into here. That’s exactly what we’re going to do.
There are a couple things you have to fill out first. First, we’re going to want to do the brand website. Which website are we going to use? We’re going to do BRZ. Just going to find that over here—or Breeze, however you pronounce it.
As that’s loading, we’re going to copy this and paste that into the URL section right over here.
Now, we want to promote a specific product or collection or whatever. This is the URL to input with that. Let’s just say we want to do this Elevate collection. Copy this, put it right over here.
If we have a goal or any promotion that we want to promote for this, we’re just going to say, “Sell product benefits as much as possible.”
Additional direction: we can include maybe the description of the product itself. “Description of product is...” Copy that. Okay.
Then it has a couple other details over here. That’s really all we need to start with. We’re just going to insert this over here and watch ChatGPT Astra do its magic.
Generating the Email Design
This part takes about 5 minutes, so we’re going to come right back very shortly, as soon as this is done.
We’re already almost 3 minutes in, and we can see it’s working overtime right now. The layout is taking shape. It’s already designing the layout of the product itself and the email, and it should be ready in the next 2 minutes.
All right, guys. I might have lied a little bit. We can see it actually worked for about 7 minutes over here. But let’s just look at the design that we have.
If you ask me, that was absolutely worth the 7 minutes that it took to create this. This is absolutely gorgeous. Really, really clear. It did exactly what we wanted it to.
Importing the Design into Figma
For the next step, we want to actually put this design into Figma so we can edit it ourselves and maybe tidy up a few details. We’re going to want to download.
Now that we’re in our downloads tab, we’re going to want to go here, and we want to go to assets—Figma importer, rather. This manifest JSON is what we’re going to need to get.
Now that it’s in our folder, we can go to our Figma tab.
Once we’re in Figma, this is going to be super easy to transfer over. Just create a random frame. We’re going to want to go to our plugins, Development, Import plugin from manifest.
We’re going to click this button over here, and we’re going to find that section that we just downloaded. We’re going to go to Figma importer, and we’re going to click this manifest JSON button. It’s going to bring us here.
Now, we’re going to find the design that we just created. And voilà, it’s in our Figma design.
We can edit it exactly how we want. Obviously, not going to write that. The really cool part is we can literally do whatever we want now. If we want to change some of this text up, we can change it over here. We can add new images if we want to as well.
More Examples and Time Savings
Just to give you guys an idea, here are a couple of the other ones we created. This is one we did for Lollipop. And we’ll do one more. This is one we did for Hule.
Guys, each of these emails was done anywhere from 5 to, let’s say, 7 minutes, and then took 2 seconds to transfer over to Figma. This is going to save a ton of time for not just email designers, but agencies and brands as well.
Nobody has an excuse anymore that they can’t design an email properly, because I just showed you how you can do it in about 7 minutes. Of course, you just have to edit a little bit afterwards.
But tell me, 2 years ago, you would have had to pay a lot of money for these types of emails. It’s a huge step forward, in my opinion, for ecommerce brands and the industry overall.
Of course, it’s going to make designers’ job roles a little bit different, but it’s going to save them a lot of time in the long run.
That’s exactly how you can create any ecommerce email in about 5 to, let’s say, 7 minutes, for any brand, any product, done right here. All you’ve got to do is grab the prompt that I attached in the description, try it out yourself, and let me know how it goes.
Design Is Only Part of Email Marketing
As an email marketing agency, design is only one part of what we deliver. There’s still the strategy behind the email: what we’re sending, who we’re sending to, when they should receive it, and, of course, the metrics like average order value and lifetime value.
We also have to consider how we’re going to build these into flows, how we’re going to build them into campaigns, test different approaches, and all that. Great-looking emails are part of that, but it’s not the entire job of an email marketing agency.
This raises a bigger question for me. If AI is already able to help this much with the design, how much of an email agency can AI actually replace?
Well, I answered this exact question in my latest video right over here. Go click that, check it out, and let me know what you think. If you like this video, please subscribe below. It really helps me out.
Thanks so much, and I’ll see you in the next—
